Every car has a spot where the key needs to be placed for the car to recognise it. The spot varies by model:
- Toyota: the key is placed on the car’s start button.
- Other cars: the spot is usually in the cup holder in the centre console.
If the car doesn’t recognise the key, it’s usually because the key’s battery has run flat. This causes most key problems.
If the car won’t start, try unlocking the doors again from the app. Then start the car again.
You can buy a battery yourself if that’s easiest — the purchase can be refunded to you afterwards against a receipt.
